About

Julie Pearson is a comedy writer, director, and "a delight to have in class," according to all her past teachers. She's the creator of THE BOXCAR ADULTS (The Roku Channel), and was a finalist for the WB Writers' Workshop. After growing up in Minnesota where people can be, um, allergic to direct communication, Julie learned to express herself emotionally by spending her twenties at Chicago's comedy theaters performing improv, directing theater, and working a storied collection of odd jobs. Now she writes dark comedies (that are full of bright colors) about women whose inner voices have become undeniable, against the backdrop of various midwest cities. Julie's writing credits include Parcast/Spotify Original Podcasts, Reductress, and Duolingo, and she has worked as a writers' room assistant for shows including THE GIRLS ON THE BUS (HBO Max). In her spare time, she takes burlesque dance classes and is pursuing an Intimacy Coordinator certification.
